Box Description The date is June 6, 1944. While a massive Allied armada approaches the Normandy coastline, the first paratroopers of the American 101st 'Screaming Eagles', 82nd 'All American' and British 6th 'Red Devils' parachute divisions begin dropping into enemy-held France to begin Operation 'Overlord', the battle to free Europe from Nazi domination. The Germans in France, so long preparing for this moment, had no direct knowledge the enemy invasion was at hand. Nonetheless, news of the invasion spread quickly and Hitler's generals began issuing orders to crush the invasion and throw the Allies back into the sea. D-Day - The Great Crusade is a game that tells the story of the Normandy Campaign from the earliest moments of the invasion to its conclusion in mid-July 1944. As the world watched, Allied soldiers battled to secure their beachhead while Rommel and von Rundstedt, the best of Hitler's generals in the west, attempted to defeat Eisenhower's armies. D-Day - The Great Crusade depicts the entire Normandy campaign on an operational level. All the Panzer, infantry, artillery, air and naval formations that took part in the battle from D-Day to mid July 1944 are represented. The success of the invasion is in your hands as you command the troops of the German 7th Army or American, British and Canadian forces under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
