Box Description Fresh from the Ukraine, the two divisions of II SS Panzerkorps were hurled forward to restore a disintegrating front. Hitler's elite had a slim chance to turn the battle around and drive for the Normandy invasion beaches. That opportunity would not last. Untried British troops, men of the 15th Scottish Division, stood their ground, straight in the path of the tyrant's Panzers. Highly trained, young, and enthusiastic, they braced themselves to repel the best Hitler's war machine had to offer. Could this untried lot of British Infantry and tanks hold against the enemy's battle-tested veteran troops? There could be no retreat. The British faced the Germans in Normandy with their backs to the sea. This was the ultimate challenge, the quest for freedom of an enslaved continent. This was Hitler's massive counter-offensive. This was the battle for Epsom. SCOTTISH CORRIDOR - LION RAMPANT is a detailed new ATS system game that tells the story of the Battle of Epsom. Some histories pass over this battle as merely the second of Montgomery's failed attempts to capture the key city of Caen. Increasingly, however, historians are recognizing the true meaning of the Epsom Offensive. This was the battle that thwarted Hitler's plans to drive the invaders back into the sea. Hitler gathered the best of his remaining Panzer Divisions, hurling them against the three sides of the 'Scottish Corridor' - and breaking them against the resistance offered by untried but heroic British troops. The beginning of 'Epsom' caught the Germans off balance. And kept them off balance until Hitler's counter-offensive in Normandy was doomed. Your investment in the Advanced TOBRUK SYSTEM (ATS) will be rewarded as an unprecedented library of new ATS MODULES, each covering a different World War II battle, is published. The ATS will be used to depict tactical-level warfare on numerous battlefields of World War II, including Finland, the Eastern Front, Normandy, the Pacific Theatre and others. Each boxed ATS release is a complete game. There is nothing more to buy to immediately begin enjoying tactical-level wargaming like never before. To keep your investment fresh and exciting, expansion kits and publications are available for each release. SCOTTISIH CORRIDOR - LION RAMPANT delivers breathtaking action and suspense at the scale and detail true tactical-level enthusiasts demand - individual squads, weapons and tanks. All the subtle nuances of tactical-level combat are provided by the system: gun duels; separate pivoting turrets; AFV indirect fire; coaxial machine-guns; melee; smoke; armor penetration; morale; AFV overruns; and more. And it is all accomplished using a detailed and intuitive system that models tanks using discrete armor values at turret, superstructure, lower hull and track aspects and front, side and rear facings and allows for the realistic use of High Explosive, Armor Piercing, APDS and HEAT ammunition. All this without the need for side notes or plotting moves and in a SOLITAIRE friendly presentation. BEGIN PLAY ALMOST IMMEDIATELY using the provided BASIC GAME RULES that take moments to read and get your units down on the game map-board within minutes. IN EACH GAME YOU GET:
Pzkw VG: The Panzerkampfwagen V, known as the 'Panther', was Germany's first medium tank designed in response to the Russian T34. The first Panthers reached front line troops in mid-1943, seeing action at the Battle of Kursk. By the time of the Battle of Normandy, an improved 'G' mark was in use. With its thick armor and lethal KwK 42 high velocity 75mm gun, the Panther was one of the most successful tanks that appeared during World War II. Cromwell: The Cromwell was one of the more successful British medium tanks of World War II. Derived from the 'Crusader' series, most models of the Cromwell were equipped with a 75mm main armament. Some Cromwells were provided 95mm howitzers for use in infantry support. Like the Crusader before it, the Cromwell's strong point was its high speed, an attribute that allowed it to do battle with heavier armed and armored German tanks following its debut in Normandy. Churchill: The Churchill was designed as a breakthrough tank, tasked with smashing static defenses. Following its debut at Dieppe in 1942, the Churchill took its place as a successful infantry support AFV in Tunisia, and later in Normandy and the Battle for Germany. Scottish Corridor - Lion Rampant is a complete game. All you need to play is an interest in the Battle of Normandy during World War II. |
